Canada Goose Hunts

Early Goose Hunting Season in MN begins in September and typically runs September 1st – 15th and has a five-bird daily limit for licensed hunters and the first 5 days there is a bonus teal season. You can find the actual dates at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources website. The Early goose season is an opportunity to get the first crack at reducing the local goose population here in Minnesota.

Just north of the Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge, we have a huge number of birds that visit the rice fields every day. We also farm Japanese Millet and moist soil grasses specifically for waterfowl to visit Palisade Flats.

From the pit blinds to brushed duck boats, our guides utilize the grounds of Palisade Flats to give you the best opportunity to harvest your birds throughout the early goose season. Proper scouting and harvest management ensure quality hunts for all our members.

Palisade Flats offers some of the best duck hunting in Minnesota, right in the heart of the Northern Mississippi Flyway. With direct frontage on both the Mississippi River and Willow River, plus managed habitat like wild rice, Japanese millet, and moist-soil grasses, we’ve built a spot that keeps birds around all season.

Located just north of the Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge, our property attracts a wide variety of ducks to the fields and water every day. From pit blinds to brushed-up duck boats, our guides scout hard and hunt smart to give you the best chance at a successful hunt. Where You'll Stay, sleep & Dine

Our original hunting lodge provides a spacious and comfortable retreat after a long day of hunting. This facility includes eight individual bedrooms, ensuring a restful night’s sleep in a private room for every guest. The second floor features a great room with a dining area, a lounge, and a card table, all with spectacular views of the hunting grounds. Best of all, you’ll be treated to incredible, chef-prepared meals from our professionally equipped kitchen, making your stay both relaxing and delicious.

Our Mallard Lodge, built in 2020, is designed with comfort and style in mind. It serves as the perfect hangout after the hunt, offering a range of amenities for your group’s enjoyment, including a bar, games, lounge area, and a spacious patio for friendly competition and camaraderie. The Mallard Lodge is nestled between the Mississippi River and Willow River, surrounded by numerous big lakes including Leech Lake, Lake of the Woods, and Lake Winnibigoshish.
